Hi! This is Jay and welcome! I have been designing and creating very unique pieces of jewelry for several years now and through much encouragement from family and friends, have decided it’s time to make these items available to everyone.
All of the designs are original and one of a kind. You may see some similarities but they are not alike. Every item is hand drawn, sawn and hammered to the end product. I usually design the piece around a focal point, which could be a designer cabochon of unique shape or color, beach glass, dichroic glass, fossils or wood.
Sheet sterling silver and various wire sizes are used in construction, with a few incorporating copper or brass. Virtually all of the designs are hammered and textured to various degrees by incorporating the forging process. The use of various hammers and an anvil, to create patterns and textures. It gives a look that cannot be achieved any other way.
The end result is an item that is flowing and clean, that lets the metal and stones speak for themselves. The designs are finished in various ways from very high gloss to matte. The finish depends on the piece and what I thought looked best, call it my right to artistic expression! The finished pieces are also on the larger side. My personal belief is, that if you spend good money on a jewelry item, it needs to be noticed, and these pieces will be! The style of the work I believe is universal. It goes as well with jeans as it does with dress attire.
Sorry, but I have no philosophical or esoterical reasons for what I make, except that for me, to sit down at my bench and start working is like being in paradise. Time and real life no longer matters and I can immerse myself into the design and creation of the piece. At the end of the day it gives me a great sense of accomplishment and leaves me very satisfied, to have created (from a thought) something that people can’t help but notice and enjoy. That’s what makes me love doing this!
